History
It began with a uniquely designed and patented Danish clog, discovered by company founders Mandy Cabot and Peter Kjellerup, in a tiny shop in Denmark in the late 1980s. This husband and wife team, then professional horse trainers, flipped over their discovery of “the perfect barn shoe,” and, quite literally, put them through two years of “acid-testing.” Mandy and Peter found these shoes to be extraordinarily comfortable, virtually indestructible, and attractive enough to wear almost anywhere. They were the only shoes they ever wore. Mandy and Peter secured the exclusive rights to the stapled clog product line from Denmark, and “Dansko, Inc.” was up and running in 1991. Pairs were shared, new designs designed, new collections developed, the good word spread, and within a few short years Dansko footwear was distributed in over 3500 retail locations.

Features and Benefits
 Dansko's flagship shoe style, the Stapled Clog, was designed for maximum support and comfort. Benefits include: high quality leather upper designs that follow natural foot contours; nonallergenic, antimicrobial socklining that absorbs and evaporates perspiration; and a polyurethane outsole that protects feet, legs, and back during long hours of standing and walking.
All Dansko white box Stapled Clogs are made with Permair Protector leather. Waterproof, breathable, and extremely durable, Permair Protector significantly improves the protective properties of leather while providing a wipe clean, easy care finish. Permair Protector leather surpasses all the requirements of the European Standard EN344, a legal requirement of safety footwear in the EU. Dansko Stapled clog outsoles are designed to be suitably slip resistant in workplace environments where excesses of vegetable oils and animal fats are present. Slip resistance tests have been carried out by SATRA, the world's leading research and technology organization for the footwear industry.
Additional benefits include resistance to salt and grit; resistance to a wide range of petrochemicals; cold crack resistance; resistance to viral and blood borne pathogens; and blood and urine stain resistance.
Patented outsoles combine a variety of materials for shock absorbency, skid resistance, stability and support, protecting feet, legs and back from concussion and fatigue.
Anatomically contoured arch support, rocker bottom soles, and slightly raised heels ease leg and back muscles during long hours of standing or walking.
High toe box and generous forefoot width promote maximum comfort and blood circulation.
Upper designs approximate the natural contours of the foot for comfortable fitting and are made of the highest quality leathers in a wide variety of colors and tannages.
Full-length socklinings are made of nonallergenic, vegetable-tanned leather, proven most effective for the absorption and evaporation of foot perspiration.
