Overall Rating:
Excellent scope for the price, not the clearest sounds, but better than anything else in this price category. Unless you're a masochist, throw away the hard eartips as soon as possible. Working in a veterinary setting, stethoscopes get thrashed easily. After about a year, the screw parts became so loose that it was tough to keep the chestpiece together. This was remedied by coating all of the threaded areas with teflon tape (the kind used by plumbers on water pipes. It kept going for another year, then the tubing tore (I don't know how) otherwise I'd still be using it.
I actually have a couple Prestige Spragues (they are fairly inexpensive, so I got two different colors I liked). My lab partner has this Stealth one, and it's very nice looking. These steths are very popular at my school as well as at the med-surg floor of the hospital I do clinical at. I like the steth because of the versatility, durability, and looks. I can auscultate heart, lung and bowel sounds effectively with it as well. Personally, I haven't had a big problem with the two tubes rubbing together making lots of noise - as you practice, you learn to differentiate between noises that are important and those that are not. Some may not like the weight of this stethoscope, but there is an option: Prestige makes a hip holster that works really well and is pretty cheap here. I use one now because it keeps the steth out of my way when bending over. Nice stethoscope for the price!
