Communication goes a long way- it's the foundation when it comes to nursing.

Q: What made you want to become a nurse?
A: Actually ever since I was younger I wanted to become a nurse because my mom's an RN. Seeing the satisfaction she used to have when she would come home after long hours of work made me be like 'Oh, I want to be a nurse, too!

Q: What experience in your career has had the biggest impact on you?
A: I would say working in hospice. The patients and the families are going through such a sensitive time and they're trusting you to come into their household and take care of a dying loved one.

Q: What is the best nursing advice you have received?
A: Communication goes a long way. That's the foundation for a lot of things you're doing, but especially when it comes to nursing because you're talking to a lot of difference people and you're the patient advocate. If you don't know how to communicate well, you can't be much help for your patient.

Q: What is the most important goal you hope to accomplish as a nurse?
A: To continue to be a patient advocate and just be there for them. I want to make my patients feel happy, make them feel like they're human beings and just give them the sense that someone cares about them.

Q: What's the one item in your wardrobe you can't live without?
A: My watch! I try not to leave the house without it- one time I did and I felt like I was going crazy because I kept looking down at my watch and it wasn't there!

Q: What scrubs are you wearing right now and how do they feel?
A: I'm wearing Cherokee Workwear Professionals scrubs and they're very comfortable. I'm used to wearing boxy uniforms, but these are not boxy, they're good for a female figure. I love the material, too.
